Glimpse Into Waynesville's Culinary Scene

Historic Frog Level Neighborhood

Nestled between Main Street and the Richardson River in Waynesville is the Historic Frog Level neighborhood where you will find Panacea Coffee House overlooking Richland Creek and the perfect place to start your day. Pair your favorite morning drink with smoked salmon, capers and cream cheese on a bagel or a slice of their homemade quiche with a side of fruit or salad. Sharing the deck with Panacea is Frog Level Brewing, a veteran owned brewery that has been part of the scene since 2011 and the first brewery in Haywood County! Also a great place to spend a lazy afternoon.

Hazelwood Neighborhood

Once a town of its own Hazelwood merged with Waynesville in July 1995, making it one of Waynesville's neighborhoods and is home to Bourbon Barrel Beef and Ale, a farm-to-table favorite.

Main Street

As we take a stroll the red-brick sidewalks of Main Street don’t be surprised if the views of the mountains up ahead don’t lure us into a late afternoon hike through the trails of the Great Balsam Range, however before we lace up our hiking boots lets wander around and see what other culinary delights this town has to offer.

Located at 50 N Main St we check out Boojum Brewing Company Taproom named after the mystic mountain creature of Haywood County. The brewing company offers seasonal pub faire that pair perfectly with their 16 beer on tap. Perfectly placed in the heart of Downtown at 170 N Main Street we come upon the delicious home of both The Chocolate Bear and Dillsboro Chocolate Factory for your sweet tooth. "Not your average Movie Theater! Featuring first run movies, a full espresso bar, craft-churned ice cream, draft beer and wine at The Strand at 38 Main. Established in 1942, the Strand at 38 Main is a Main Street institution, as well as the only theater in Haywood County. The industrial-style space features second-run Hollywood blockbusters and classic films, plus live music. As we continue strolling we find these hometown favorites at 200 S. Main Street Kandi’s Cakes and Bake Shop, known for their Cream Horns so make sure you go in and try one! I love themed table settings and fun kitchen gadgets and that is why I am excited about The Kitchen Shop at 5 N Main St. I could spend all day in this store so we better keep moving.

One block south of Main in the heart of historic downtown on Church Street is where you will find two more farm to table restaruants, Frogs Leap Public House, a farm to table country pub focused on the culture, art, music, wine, beer and especially the food of Western North Carolina and The Chefs Table, the ultimate wine country dining experience! (Reservations are needed) Also located on Church Street is The Classic Wineseller, retail wine and cigar shop. This Wine, Beer, Cigars, Gifts and Restaurant vuenue hosts live music, educational classes, wine and winemaker dinners and tastings and houses over 1,100 wine selections.
